ELTROPULS Plasma Nitriding Process Offers New Possibilities

Company profile of Eltro GmbH

History. ELTRO GmbH was founded in 1980 by Dr. Siegfried Strämke, former member of the RWTH Aachen in the border triangle of Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. ELTRO invented the modern plasma heat treatment process and equipment characterized by pulsed dc discharge with variable duty cycle in a hot wall reactor. This technology allowed the decoupling of thermal and plasma reactions and is the base of all modern plasma heat treatment technology

giving better quality, higher throughput and lower price per piece. Highlights of the over 25 years of successful developments in the field of plasma heat treatment technology and equipment are:
  • 1982 expansion of the portfolio to offer the commercial heat treatment service
  • 1984 first export of a plasma unit to the US
  • 1987 ELTRO sets up a new plant in Baesweiler near Aachen
  • 1990 first fully automated units are delivered to leading automotive manufacturers
  • 1995 enlargement of the plant offering more than 5000 m2 of production and office area
  • 1999 a new generation of large volume furnaces with power supplies capable of delivering several 1000 Amps are developed
  • 2007 ELTRO holds more than 25 patents in the plasma technology field

Large Volume Unit for Wind Power Industrie

Shareholdings:

ELTRO GmbH is a private owned company and 100 % parent company of ELTRO SERVICESInc., Oxford, Michigan USA, ELTRO GB, Farnborough

UK, ELTRO Chemnitz, Germany and ELTRO Moskow in Russia.

Number of staff: 100 employees.

Production:

ELTRO offers tailor-made systems. Beginning with the analysis of the problem the system is designed, customized software solutions are developed and all electronic and mechanical components can be produced in-house besides robots. The equipment is completely assembled at ELTRO and tested under simulated production conditions.

Product range:

ELTRO delivers plasma heat treatment equipment for nitriding, nitrocarburising and coatings in bell, pit and horizontal design with receptacle diameters starting with 0,45 m up to 2 m diameter and useful heights from 0,8 m up to 5 m. Other designs and sizes are available on demand. The standard maximum temperature range is from 550 °C up to 800 °C. Another option are double base furnaces allowing a 24-hour-continuous treatment. While the load on one base is treated the second base can be loaded and at the end of the treatment the bell swings automatically from one base to the other.

Competitive advantages:

ELTRO is most competitive in solving customer's problems. The interdisciplinary team offers experts in every field from a metallurgist up to an electronic engineer or a software specialist who have the tools to evaluate the customer's problem.

Several hundred units delivered worldwide and thousands of successful applications generate the best service for our customers at the leading edge of plasma technology and equipment. The customer gets the most for his money and units which are over 20 years old are still running continuously 7 days a week and are still serviced by ELTRO.
